INTERNATIONAL
SAEYLS
SAEYLS stands for Sri Aman Environmental Youth Leadership Summit. This is an international program whereby my school collabs with many other countries around the world such as Japan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and many more in aid to raise awareness on environmental issues. This is an annual event organized by students of SMK (P) Sri Aman. In order to join this program, you must fulfill all the requirements needed then you will be short listed for an interview. Every year hundreds of students apply for this program but only about 30 students are selected, and I was one of the lucky ones to join the committee in 2019. I was under the design team therefore, my team and I had to design posters, banners, t-shirts and etc. Besides that, the schools that joined the program that year were from Indonesia, Thailand and Penang. Thus, I was also elected to be the guardian that will take care of the Indonesian students throughout one week of the program. Our accommodation and food for the week was from Crystal Crown Hotel, Petaling Jaya. Throughout the program there were many activities being done such as tree planting, cultural activities, debate, eco couture and poetry competition. In addition, Sunway Lagoon sponsored the SAEYLS participants for a fun wet and wild day at Sunway Lagoon's waterpark and zoo. This program brings many positive impacts in producing quality students. This is because, by joining this program, I get to widen my networking skills internationally, increase leadership, teamwork, organization and communication skills. Moreover, I am open to learning and exchanging cultural knowledge with others.
Japan
Japan has been one of the countries I wish to visit. Every year SMK (P) Sri Aman will organize a trip to Japan and I have been tempted to go since I was form 2. Therefore, I saved up some money for a year and plan to visit Japan in form 3. Alhamdulillah, my dream came true! I had my travel buddy with me, which is Hanis Karina, whichever country I go to during my high school years, she will be there right by my side. I visited many places in Osaka, Japan such as the Universal Studios Japan, Rinku Premium Outlet and Hidaka High School. Despite having so much fun discovering Japan, I also learnt a lot of new cultural knowledge and made new friends in Japan. I hope to visit other parts of Japan in the future again, Insha’Allah.
Indonesia
Another trip that I went to during my high school years was in 2018. I went to Indonesia to represent my school’s uniform body, ‘Puteri Islam’. Hanis Karina accompanied me again for this trip. We discovered many beautiful places in Bandung, Indonesia such as Tangkuban Perahu and Kawah Putih. Besides that, I also learnt how to do a CPR and health care infos from Palang Merah Indonesia. After the trip I compiled a video edit of my trip to Bandung and shared it with my juniors and fellow members of my uniform body so that they will be inspired by it. All in all, travelling to other countries without your parents at a young age is one crazy experience but it sure taught me a lot of things.
Tokoh Puteri
Speaking of Puteri Islam, I have been in this uniform body ever since i was form one. Since I was the president of that uniform body in 2019, I was given the responsibility to represent my school for the district level ‘Tokoh Puteri’ competition. Despite busy preparing myself for SPM, I took the risk and opportunity to participate in this competition. Alhamdulillah, I was chosen to be the ‘Tokoh Puteri’ in district level. However, when I represent for state level, I lost, but that’s okay as I’m grateful for where I had come so far. Furthermore, I also did a few community services under my uniform body and the biggest one was the food donation and visit to the Sekolah Bimbingan Jalanan Kasih in Chow Kit. All in all, I learnt various skills that I can apply in my daily life from joining this uniform body. For instance, cooking, sewing, marching, leadership, and teamwork skills.
