The club that wanted to join in Asasi UiTM, Dengkil was Media Literacy and Film Circle Club. There are a few lecturers in this club such as Sir Afiq, Miss Shanaa and Miss Hanan. Due to the pandemic, there are only fifty spots available in each club and it’s a first come first serve basis when students apply online. Luckily, I was quick enough to save a spot in the club that I wanted. A few of my classmates got in too such as iera and dina. We were so happy to get started with our first week of club activities.

          Since we entered our Asasi year during the pandemic, we were not able to do a face to face club meeting, therefore curricular sessions were done via online through zoom or google meet every once a week. As for Film Circle club, the weekly meetings are on Fridays at 2 p.m. in the evening. However, we managed to have a onetime face to face club interaction and movie screening held in UiTM Dengkil’s auditorium room and that was our last meet up. Furthermore, the activity that is being done in this club brings so much joy to the students and lecturers as we all get to watch the movies together. Every week, Sir Afiq will play a movie and it’s a surprise as we won’t know the title of the movie until it is being played live through zoom. The movie that are picked by the lecturers are different every week in terms of genre, language and which country it is from. Hence, it was interesting to watch a diverse type of movie. After the movie screening finishes, we will have a short discussion in the WhatsApp group regarding the movie that we have just watched. The discussion sessions between lecturers and students in the club is the most exciting part as we are open to share our opinions and agree to disagree with one another. Plus, moral values were learnt from the movie itself too.

          The biggest achievement from this club that I personally am proud of is getting to be the social media operator/ representative for the Media Literacy and Film Circle Club. Two other students in the club got the chance to be the social media operator too. Therefore, we were given the responsibility to operate Film Circle’s official Instagram account with content related to movies. We had to keep the social media active by doing postings every week. There is a new segment that was introduced in the club. The new segment is called #FCRecommends whereby we must do a review on a movie weekly and it has to be posted on film circle’s Instagram page for others to see.

 

          As a reflection, I recieved alot of beneficial input from this club. For example, I got to know about new movies from other countries, handling/creating content for the club's social media account, widening social networks, communication skills and interpreting movies in depth. I also got out of my comfort zone by volunteering myself as the social media operator for the first time. I hope to create more fun memories in this club for the next semester ahead!
